Wesley Dodds is a character in The CW series, Stargirl.

Wesley was a famed member of the Justice Society of America as the superhero The Sandman.

Biography[]

Wesley took part in the final battle against the Injustice Society of America on Christmas Eve, 2010. He was likely killed by Icicle as his suit and mask were covered in ice. His belongings were presumably than placed in the JSA's headquarters after his death. A photograph of himself with the rest of the team was kept in Pat Dugan's belongings.

Series[]

Season 1[]

On Christmas Eve 2010, the JSA fights the ISA in an abandoned Los Angeles mansion. Pat Dugan arrives late to the scene after hearing his friends being killed. He bursts into the mansion and finds many of his friends, including The Sandman, dead. Sandman lays on the steps of the mansion, his trench coat and gas mask covered in ice.

In the present day, Courtney finds a photograph of the Golden Age JSA, which includes Sandman. Pat explains they all died fighting the ISA.[1][2]

Season 3[]

Sylvester argues with The Shade over the man's involvement in the destruction of the JSA. Sylvester concedes that maybe he did save Dr. Mid-Nite's life. But what about the others - Jay Garrick, Wesley Dodds, they died heroes, fighting him.[3]

While helping Jennie in Civic City, Courtney, Pat, and Shade learn that she needs to get to New York. Jennie elaborates that's where Sandy Hawkins, who is Wesley Dodd's nephew, lives. Pat is surprised at her mention of Wesley Dodds, the Sandman.[4]

Physical Appearance[]

Wesley, in his superhero alter-ego, wore a brown trench coat and black gas mask paired with a dark-colored hat.

Equipment[]

  • Sandman Mask: A gas mask that Wesley Dodds wore when he fronted as the superhero Sandman. This mask was relocated to the JSA's headquarters after Wesley's death.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • Wesley was most likely killed by Icicle, as the front of his chest was coated in ice.
  • His nephew Sandy inherited Wesley's spot in the JSA, as they both had similar powers.

Comic Comparisons[]

  • In the comics, Sandman (Wesley Dodds) was a golden age hero and a member of the JSA and the All-Star Squadron. He had prophetic dreams and wore a special gas-mask. He also used a gun that put the people to sleep.
