Lily Mahkent is a recurring character in The CW and DC Universe series, Stargirl.

She was the elderly immigrant mother of Jordan Mahkent and the grandmother and legal guardian to Cameron Mahkent. Following Jordan's supposed death, Lily and Sofus revealed their families gift to Cameron. They decided to train him to become the next Icicle, and seek vengeance against the JSA.

Biography[]

Lily was born in Norway to a bloodline of powerful cryokinetics, and inherited these powers herself. She witnesses the horrific persecution of her kind - men, women, and children alike - burned at the stake like witches. She married Sofus Mahkent and they had a son together, Jordan. They wanted a better life for their son and moved to America in the hopes of escaping the hatred of the old country. They raised their son together and helped teach him his powers, watching in pride as he became Icicle, a supervillain who led the Injustice Society of America in the hopes of achieving a "better America". Jordan spent some time in England, where he met his wife Christine. Together, they had a son named Cameron, whom Lily admired greatly.

Lily and Sofus lived with the family in Blue Valley, Nebraska. Christine was a teacher at a school which had been built on top of a toxic waste dump site. This caused Christine to develop cancer. In 2012, Christine was nearing the end of her life in her family home, surrounded by her family which included Lily and Sofus. She died that night after saying goodbye to her son, and making her husband promise to o do whatever it takes to complete his mission - even if he has to kill anyone who gets in his way. After Christine's death, Jordan continued his "philanthropic" work with The American Dream and traveled around the country. As such, Lily and Sofus became Cameron's primary caretakers in Blue Valley.

Series[]

Season 1[]

They appear to know of his son's criminals activity and alter ego, as they appear unfazed when Jordan killed William Zarick, and assured Jordan that they will take care of his dead body. In a tender moment at dinner, Lily scolds Cameron for trying to sneak a snack before dinner. When Cameron is gone, Sofus assures Jordan that he's doing the right thing and making Blue Valley and the country a better place.[1]

The Mahkent's later come to dinner at the Dugan-Whitmore household after being invited by Barbara. Lily gives Courtney a welcoming hug and comments she heard about Courtney's accident, with Sofus giving the teen a sympathetic smile. During dinner, Sofus and Lily say a Norwegian prayer riddled with dark undertones. As the families talk, Sofus tells his wife in Norwegian he has taken a liking to Barbara. Lily ominously says Courtney is bothering her.[2] A day later as a thank you for the dinner, Jordan's parents stop by The American Dream to give her cookies. In Norwegian, they reaffirm their fondness for her, feeling sorry for what's to come.[3]

The next day, both Sofus and Lily want to tell Cameron of his ancestry and Jordan's powers, as well as, the fight that is coming. Jordan refuses to allow it as he doesn't want Cameron involved.[4]

Season 2[]

Lily and Sofus watch Cameron from a distance as he paints a mural to honour his deceased father. They see Courtney approach him and, and Lily makes it clear she doesn't like Courtney, likely blaming her for Jordan's death. Sofus tells his wife to let Cameron be happy.[5]

Lily sees Cindy Burman looking at Cameron, and warns her to leave her him out of whatever mischief she is planning. She says Cindy's father was a monster, and so is she. Lily warns Cindy away with her cytokinesis. Later, Lily observes Cameron and Courtney when Courtney comes to visit him.[6]

Season 3[]

302 SC (188)

In the Mahkent residence, Cameron faces a blank canvas resting on an easel. His grandparents stand behind him, watching. Every time he tries to paint now, it hurts. He sadly relents that he can't do it. Lily remarks that he is meant for greater things beyond painting. Sofus seconds her sentiment, saying there are so much greater things he's meant for. Cameron turns to look at the sketches he did for his father's mural.[7] Sofus and Lily pass the window of Richie's and see Sylvester sitting there. They stop to watch him for a moment before continuing on their way. Over at the Mahkent residence, Sofus and Lily rush through the hall as he pulls his jacket on. In Norwegian, she tells him to hurry, and he rushes out a "yes, my love" in response.[8]

Cameron paces in his family home, in a room that has a bookcase full of snow globes. He picks up a snow globe with a figurine of a blonde girl within. He starts to shake it, watching the snow inside fall. He holds it out and focuses, letting out a single breath of cold air. The inside freezes completely. His eyes freeze over and the exterior of the globe freezes. He groans, his hand shaking, before dropping the globe, causing it to shatter on the floor. He kneels on the ground. Lily and Sofus enter the room, assuring him he's learning. It will take time to control his powers, but he will soon. They speak to one another in Norwegian, referencing the fallen land of Niflheim, blessing their grandson so their enemies might suffer. They guide him out of the room, closing the doors behind them.

Cameron sits on the end of his bed deep in thought. Lily and Sofus enter, with Lily bringing him tea to calm him so he can try using his powers again. Sofus collects Cameron's art off of his desk, which surprises the teen. Sofus explains that it needs to be put away, just for now. He leaves the room with Lily, as Cameron sadly watches them leave.[9] When Courtney comes over, they watch from the doorway as Cameron makes her an ice inn with his powers.[10]

Pat and Barbara unexpectedly drop by at the Mahkent residence with a fruit basket. He loves smoothies and the families convene in a larger room. Barbara compliments the room. Lily mentions it was her son's office and her daughter-in-law's studio. Barbara knows Cameron is quite the artist too. Lily invites them to sit as Sofus comes in with plates. They don't entertain much, but would like to offer them a Norwegian specialty: lutefisk. In Norwegian, Lily asks if he poisoned it, with Sofus scoffing that of course not. She asks why he's serving it then, earning a side look from him. Barbara really came by to share how delighted they are that Courtney and Cameron are spending a lot of time together. Because they're here, Lily assumes they have concerns. Pat brushes it off as just wanting to tell them that Cameron's such a nice young man. Lily starts to speak about Courtney, but Sofus interrupts. They think Courtney's very special too. Barbara asks how they think she's special, earning inquisitive looks. Pat fixes it by saying he thinks Barb means to say thanks. A moment of silence passes and Barbara expresses that she never had a chance to tell them personally how sorry she is about what happened to Jordan. He was a great man. Lily repeats the sentiment and asks if Barbara knows how it feels to lose a child. She starts to raise her hand when Sofus takes it. Courtney calls out to her mom and Pat, asking what they're doing here. She and Cameron enter the room, their family watching them.

Courtney questions why her parents didn't call her. Barbara reminds Courtney that she was ignoring everyone. Cameron reveals that Courtney was helping him on a new sculpture, which unnerves Lily, though Sofus is sure it's fine. Courtney presses there was no reason for her parents to come all the way out here. Pat shrugs it off, as if he hadn't come then he never would have gotten to try lutefisk, which now enters the pantheon of great fish. It's right up there with catfish, grouper, and tilapia. His humor lands hollow, prompting Pat to think they should get going. They don't want to overstay their welcome, as they've all been so hospitable. Like he said, they just wanted to come by, say hello, and wish the teens good luck. Sofus looks to Cameron - as long as their children are both happy, that's all that matters. He looks to Lily and urges her that Cameron and Courtney being happy is all that's important now. She gives a brisk nod, glaring at Courtney. Cameron and Courtney hold hands. The Whitmore-Dugan's leave the house and Lily watches them from the window.[11]

One morning, Lily looks at an old photo album, staring at a picture as screaming echoes in her memories. The photo depicts a person burning on a wood pyre. She looks up at the portrait of Jordan, Christine, and young Cameron hanging on the wall. She gazes at the picture of herself, Sofus, and Cameron together in modern days. She closes the album and walks to Cameron's room, knocking on the door, but he doesn't answer. She walks in and sees his bed made. Sofus explains he went to the garden to practice his sculpture, which upsets her. She picks up a sketch and sneers that she said no more art. His duty is to his family. She angrily crumples up the sketch and throws it in a trash can, storming out. Sofus peers into the can, using his powers to open the crumpled paper, revealing a sketch of Courtney Whitmore.

309 SC (51)

Mr. Deisinger approaches the Mahkent Residence, hesitantly knocking on the front door. Lily answers with Sofus lagging behind her. Mr. Deisinger nervously introduces himself as Cameron's art teacher, but their blank expressions make his jovial nature falter. He asks if he can come inside, and Lily silently opens the door for him. They sit in the office room as Paul compliments their wonderful home. The artwork looks like Cameron's, and Sofus explains they're his mother's. Paul can see where Cameron gets his talent. They have a seat while Paul tells them he's worried about Cameron since he quit art. Lily dismisses this as he has other things he's interested in now. Paul asks why, as Cameron has such passion for it. He knows losing his father was hard, but Lily sharply interrupts as he knows nothing. Sofus contains her with a touch. Paul apologizes as he only came to express his concern. He knows how much art means to Cameron, that it makes him happy, and he's dreamt about it. He can't stand by and watch him throw his artistic life away - he won't. In Norwegian, Lily tells Sofus she can't sit here any longer, but Sofus reasons with her that what this man says, it's important. She doesn't need to hear it. Sofus reasons that he's just trying to help their grandson, asking his love to please listen. She sneers that it isn't his business and raises her hand, her eyes freezing over. She shoots a shard of ice from her hand that impales Paul's chest. He falls back on the couch, dead. Lily leaves the room as it doesn't matter what the man said now - he's dead.

That evening, Lily walks down the hall and hears Cameron talking to Courtney in the study. She stops to eavesdrop on the conversation. Courtney remarks that she never noticed the snowglobes before. His dad used to collect them. Every time he went on one of his business trips, he'd bring one back for Cameron, calling them trophies. Courtney nervously mentions he went on a lto of business trips. Cameron nods and sadly admits that sometimes when he wakes up, and his dad's not here, he thinks he's on a business trip. Then he remembers the truth. Courtney walks a few paces away before admitting she wants to talk to him about his father, specifically, about what happened to him. Cameron reiterates that he doesn't know much. He knows his dad was trying to do something to help the world, and he was killed for it. She slowly tells him that's not exactly what happened. She asks for him to please, just let her explain everything she's about to say before he says anything. He takes a deep breath than agrees, so Courtney readies herself. His father wasn't who Cameron thinks he was. Lily bursts in angrily declaring that's enough. Sofus joins and tries to stop her. Cameron moves next to Courtney, asking what's going on. Lily and Courtney lock eyes for a moment. Suddenly, the door smashes open as Hourman slides into the room below, shattering the door into piece. Cameron takes a few steps forward in front of Courtney, who looks at Hourman in surprise. The masked hero shouts up at Courtney that he warned her. He assumes a fighting stance and Lily steps forward. She sneers that the children will finally die for what they have done, her eyes freezing over.

Hourman shouts that these creepy old ghouls are the one who have been watching them. He attacks but Cameron blasts him aside with his powers, knocking him into a table. Courtney shouts out a no as she grabs and lowers Cameron's arm. Sofus pulls Lily out of the study as Cameron, stunned, tells Courtney they have to get out of here. She protests, as that's Rick, surprising Cameron even more. Hourman readies himself for another attack. Courtney yells at him to stop but he ignores her, charging forward and lifting Cameron over his head. Courtney is caught in the crossfire and sent flying across the room, smacking into the bookshelf, just as Hourman slams Cameron to the ground. Sofus pulls Lily away as the sounds of fighting remain. Wildcat slides into the hallway and Lily jerks away from her husband, saying that's enough. Wildcat slowly stalks forward and Lily shoots an ice blast that Wildcat barely dodges. A second blast quickly follows, which Wildcat flips over, bracing herself on the wall afterwards. The opposing wall crumbles from the impact of the ice.

Wildcat fights against Lily, dodging her onslaught of ice blasts and matching her in close combat. She eventually flips the woman over her shoulder and kicks her down the hallway. She assumes a fighting stance, unsheathes her claws, then charges at Lily. The woman blasts herself upwards and freezes the hall, making Wildcat slide across it. Lily lands and blasts Wildcat, who charges at her again, with a blast of ice that sends her tumbling into the opposing wall. Wildcat flips back to her feet and charges again. Wildcat looks up at Lily who sends an ice shard her way. They continue to fight hand-to-hand, though Lily's usage of her powers makes it a difficult fight. She trips Wildcat then blasts her against a doorway, giving a steady stream of ice that covers Wildcat's torso.

Wildcat screams in pain as the ice covers her body and arms. Lily sends a final blast that knocks both Wildcat and the door down. She turns to the study where she sees Hourman choking Cameron. Courtney, who looks on in horror at the sight, quickly leaps to her feet and jumps over the railing. She yells for Rick to let him go, grabbing at his arm and tugging on him. He throws her aside without a second thought. She slams into the wall with enough force to make a cracking sound. Hourman turns back to Cameron, whose eyes dart to his girlfriend, bleeding on the floor. He clenches Hourman's arm, letting out a scream as he sends ice crawling up his arm and shoulder. Hourman drops him and Cameron quickly attacks him with ice, then freezes each of his feet to the ground. He blasts ice under Hourman, using it to slide under the hero, hit the wall, and launch himself into a flip. He braces his feet on the wall as he sends a blast of ice strong enough to knock Hourman to the ground. Lily watches with a smile.

309 SC (191)

Hourman struggles to his feet and Cameron kicks him in the torso, sending him back to the ground. Courtney watches as she struggles to regain her composure. Hourman crawls away from Cameron, who glares at the boy. Lily calls out for her grandson, catching his attention. She reveals they killed his father. He looks to Courtney who can't manage the words, though her emotional expression is the confirmation he needs. He swells with emotion as ice swirls around his body, his eyes freezing over. He blasts Hourman backwards with enough force to smash the stairs. Hourman lays there, weak, unable to breath well. Cameron holds out his hand which swirls with ice. Lily cheers from the sidelines, telling him to do it, as Hourman reaches his hand up weakly. Sofus enters and tells him to stop. This hate is what killed his father. His anger, his grief. He tells Cameron to not let them take control of him. Cameron looks to Hourman and then to Courtney. Sofus croaks out for him not to ignore love, then falls to the ground, clutching his arm. Wildcat, Artemis, and Dr. Mid-Nite enter the room. Cameron walks up to his grandma, sitting next to her. Courtney crawls over to the steps, managing to sit next to Rick. Dr. Mid-Nite reads that Sofus is having a heart attack. She decides to call her mom, who tells her that Sofus's heart has stopped. James reminds her about the gloves, which double as defibrillators because of their power. The suit will insulate her, she just has to get everyone clear. She sends a shock through Sofus then another, successfully reviving him. The man groans as Lily holds his head, relieved that he's alive. Wildcat and Artemis share a look. Cameron holds Lily's shoulder as they look down at Sofus. He looks over at Courtney, who is crying. She looks away as Hourman croaks out that he's sorry. When the carnage rests, Beth calls 911.[12]

The next morning at the hospital, Lily and Cameron sit near Sofus's slumbering body. Lily angrily tells Cameron this is not the way of their family, waiting, and giving them time to plan their attack again. Cameron tries to reason as they don't know for sure that's what they're doing. He starts to mention what Papa said, but she cuts him off and says to look at Sofus. Cameron knows that he might've died if it wasn't for Beth Chapel calling 911. Lily scoffs as they were the ones that did this to him, just like his father. He looks away and she turns to face him. He knows the truth now, about Courtney Whitmore and her friends - who they are and what they did. She's going to take his grandfather home, instructing Cameron to go find the Whitmore girl. She trusts that he knows what must be done, and after a moment, Cameron looks to her darkly, stating that he knows.

Lily learns that Pat and Sylvester stopped by her home and spoke with Sofus while she was out getting her husband supplies for his recovery. Looking to get revenge, Lily knocks on the Whitmore-Dugan's front door. Barbara opens the door and steps away from Lily, who pushes her way inside, her tone accusatory as she tells Barbara that her husband his friend came to their house today, so she came here. Barbara asks what she wants, stepping away from her. Lily's here to tell her that she and her family has hurt hers too many times now. Her son could have saved this country's future and he was so very fond of her. She stretches out her hand as her eyes freeze over. Barbara shields herself, anticipating a blow. An arrow shoots past Barbara and pierce the front door. Lily gasps in surprise as Paula walks forward, standing protectively in front of Barbara. She won't miss on purpose again. She gives Lily one second to leave. She glares at the duo before leaving.

Paula and Crusher visit the Mahkent residence. Crusher knocks on the door, him and Paula taking breaths and clearing their throats. Lily opens the door, shocked to see her son's old allies standing there. The Crocks smile at her, and she invites them inside. As they enter the living room, Crusher remarks that he hopes they have insurance. An unfazed Lily stares at them, sitting next to Sofus. Paula is sure they know why they're there, but Lily doesn't, not exactly. Sofus knows they were friends of their son. Crusher asks if he and Paula can sit down, proceeding to do so when the elders don't protest. Crusher is gonna get right to the point. They're here on behalf of Pat, Barbara, and with the kids. Lily is offended and asks if they aligned themselves with that horrible girl and her family. Despite their difference, Paula thinks all of them in Blue Valley want the same thing. Lily calls her a stupid woman in Norwegian, making Paula's smiles fall. She asks they could presume to know what they want. Paula tells her they need to rest. No more revenge plots, no more violence. This surprises Lily, who questions if they want them forget everything. Not forget it, but learn from it. That's what Courtney Whitmore has been trying to get everyone to do, forgive one another. Lily questions if they want the Mahkents to forgive the people who murdered their son. She wickedly says never. Paula takes a breath and Crusher looks over at Paula, then back at the grandparents.

The Crocks tells the grandparents that everything that has been happening has nothing to do with them. Jordan wanted to build a new America, because he believed he could create a brighter, safer future for their children. They believed in him but if this continues, it will only bring more destruction to their families and community. Crusher knows that's not what Jordan wanted in the end, which Paula acknowledges. If they kill the JSA, then the JSA will them them, and a lot of other people get killed along the way. He asks them to believe him, as his wife and him have been doing this a long time. They know that's how this goes. Paula asks the grandparents how it will help Cameron, and what kind of future it will give him and his children. Crusher looks at the Mahkent family portrait. Jordan wanted the best for his kid, so they should do what's right. Give it up, like they did. He takes his Sportsmaster mask out of his duffel and sets it on the coffee table. Sofus looks to Lily, telling his love that even though it's hard, he can forgive them. He asks if she can too. Lily looks up at the portrait, full of emotion.

With her guests gone, Lily looks at the portrait of Christine, Jordan, and Cameron. She begins to cry as she touches the frame, slowly backing away. Sofus comes in to find her crying. She turns to him, admitting in Norwegian that she misses her son so much. Sofus embraces his broken wife, who openly sobs in his arms.[13]

The next morning, Lily answers her front door to find Jordan Mahkent standing on her porch. e greets his mother and she emotionally remarks that it's her son, her boy. She doesn't understand, holding his face then hugging him. Sofus emerges as Jordan tells Lily it will all be okay now. Sofus proclaims that it's by the gods, embracing Jordan. Cameron stands in the doorway, tearfully questioning his father. Jordan merely replies that he's home.

The Mahkents convene in the living room. Jordan looks at the snowglobes, holding one in his hand. Cameron's mother used to love how simple, and yet beautiful, the worlds inside of them are. Collecting them after she died was his way of honoring her. He looks over the shelves musing that one is missing. Cameron bluntly asks where his dad has been. Jordan admits that when he was hit, he not only lost his form, but all self-awareness. He had no consciousness, just dreams. Dreams of Cameron, of Christine, of their family. It took everything he had to reform. Cameron wonders why he didn't heal here, and why he let them think he was dead. Jordan was just trying to protect him, a statement Cameron questions. Jordan takes a seat on the couch next to Lily, assuming that his grandparents explained everything to him. Their family was hunted for generations. To bring him into that history would've put him in danger. He starts to explain what would happen once he knew, but a sharp pain interrupts him. The family looks at him with concern. When the pain passes, Jordan admits that he knows how hard it is to keep their secret from those he holds close. He told Courtney and then this happened.

Cameron, fighting back tears, reveals that Courtney told him that she was the one who killed Jordan. Lily proudly admits she failed. Jordan quickly corrects them, as it wasn't Courtney who did it, but her brother. This surprises Cameron who questions if it was Mike, and why she would tell him that it was her. Jordan assumes it was to protect Mike. But that's all in the past now. He's forgiven Mike and all of them, because they believe what they were doing was right. After what happened, his powers are somehow even stronger. He flexes his hand as Sofus nervously looks at Jordan. Cameron confronts him over Courtney telling him that he's killed people. Jordan looks up at his son - his goal was only ever to help people. He insists Cameron knows that because he knows him. Cameron thought he did. Jordan stands from the couch to hold his son's face. Almost losing his life, almost losing Cameron, and listening to Courtney Whitmore, it made him look at his past actions in a different light. Courtney's group and him want the same thing. They could just not never agree on how they should achieve it. But he thinks maybe now they can. Sofus, in Norwegian, asks if he wants peace. Jordan does want peace. He embraces Cameron who begins to cry.[14]

The next night, Cameron and his grandparents walk to the upstairs hallway of their home. Jordan asks how the vigil went, learning there's still no sign of Mr. Deisinger. He does have good news for Cameron, as Starman has agreed to let go of their past differences, which Cameron remarks is great. It is, but Jordan's afraid that Courtney and her friends aren't quite so willing yet. The boy wants to convince them, and Jordan leads him a few paces away from Sofus and Lily. He tells Cameron that something has happened to Courtney's stepfather. He's been killed by that aberration of science, the Ultra-Humanite. Sofus tells Jordan in Norwegian to stop lying to the boy, earning a look of surprise from his son and confusion from his grandson. Still in Norwegian, Lily tells Sofus to shut up, calling him an old fool. Their enemies die tonight. Jordan reminds his mother that that's only if they refuse. He wants to try to give his son what he wants. He leads Cameron to his room.

Jordan convinces Cameron to call Courtney and tell her that Starman is at the junkyard, as he knows she's looking for him. Cameron doesn't like lying to her, but Jordan insists it's the only way to get her to listen face-to-face. The JSA arrives at Zeek's Junkyard but stop when they see Icicle, "Starman" who wields the staff, and Sofus, Lily, and Cameron waiting for them. Icicle greets Courtney, though Cameron barely meets her gaze. Icicle stands alongside his family and "Starman" tonight, here on neutral round, with only good intentions. Stargirl asks where Pat is. "Starman" is sorry, but she's gone. Pat came to see him after Jordan and he settled things. He apologized and tried to convince Pat to join forces with both of them, but he refused. He went into the woods alone, looking for the Ultra-Humanite, who killed him. This lands hard with Courtney. As she processes, Icicle tells her that if they're going to get any justice for Pat, they need to team up. She doesn't believe anything he says. "Starman" knows he was harsh earlier, but Stargirl cuts him off. They're both lying, and Sylvester has been lying since he came to Blue Valley. Cameron chimes in for the first time, as he wouldn't lie to her. He's sorry about Pat, he's so sorry, but the only thing they can do now is work together and stop that monster before it hurts anyone else. Stargirl struggles for a moment until a whooshing sound gets everyone's attention. From the sky, S.T.R.I.P.E. appears, landing behind the JSA as his boosters burn into the ground. The motor revs and Stargirl questions if it's Pat. It is him, but that's not Sylvester, it's the Ultra-Humanite. The team turns back to their enemies. Ultra-Humanite rhetorically shouts out if Pat's kidding him, and angrily questions why Stripesy won't die. He shoves past Icicle and blasts S.T.R.I.P.E. with the staff, sending the robot tumbling away. He takes to the air after S.T.R.I.P.E. Lily steps forward as now, the wicked children will freeze. She summons ice to her palms and the JSA assumes their fighting positions.

As the Battle of Blue Valley commences, Wildcat shouts for Hourman as she sees him fall. However, she can't stop to help him recover, as Lily continues her onslaught of attacks. Wildcat jumps across the tops of the cars, her suit absorbing her impact. She lands through a windshield as more attacks fly her way.

313 SC (74)

Dr. Mid-Nite squares off with Sofus, though the goggles detect hesitation from him. She tells Mr. Mahkent that she doesn't want to fight him again. He lowers his hands in relief, as neither does he. She tells him they have to stop everyone. Lily barks out for Sofus, appearing from around a corner. She demands that he kill Dr. Mid-Nite, but the man refuses, not wanting any more of this. She warns him in Norwegian to do it or she'll kill him, calling him a useless idiot. He takes a step away from her as she raises her hand, ice appearing. Wildcat lets out a scream as she jumps over Lily, narrowly avoiding a blast. The ice hits a scaffold, breaking one of the metal bars. Wildcat lands between Sofus and Dr. Mid-Nite, who all watch in horror as a car falls from the top of the scaffold toward Lily. She tries to block it with a shield, but the car is too heavy and lands on top of her. They gasp in shock. Wildcat looks to Dr. Mid-Nite, - she didn't do it.[15]

Personality[]

On the surface, Lily is an unassuming elderly woman who is a doting wife, mother, and grandmother. She cared deeply for those she viewed as family. Beneath her soft exterior lies a woman filled with darkness, hate, and bitterness. She spent her life running and hiding from those who wanted to persecute herself and her family for their gifts. She watched loves one burn at the stake like witches, and escaped the old country so her son would have a better life. She sought out only the best for him, and instilled values such as family, loyalty, strength, and a ruthless characteristic that would carry through in everything Jordan did. Lily would have done anything for Jordan - she disposed of bodies and covered up crimes to protect him in the name of Project New America. She viewed beings like Dragon King and his daughter as monsters with no humanity. Lily was dedicated to Jordan's cause and despite being his mother, never questioned the choices he made regarding Cameron, even if she fundamentally disagreed with not telling the boy the truth about his powers and family heritage. She supported Jordan's unreciprocated affections for the married Barbara Whitmore, but detested Courtney even before she learned Courtney was Stargirl.

When Jordan died, Lily and Sofus were devastated, but still raised Cameron. Lily's hatred for Courtney grew as she knew the JSA played a role in Jordan's death. She wanted to tell Cameron everything, but Sofus quelled her and kept her contained so their grandson could be happy. However, when Cameron exhibited powers, Lily controlled Cameron's outlets, as she believed he know had a singular duty to his family, and that his love for painting would have to disappear. She became increasingly volatile in her words, as she wanted to poison the Whitmore-Dugan's, began critiquing her husband for showing humanity, and killed Paul Deisinger for speaking out against her refusal to let Cameron paint. Because Lily believed Jordan was going to help people through Project New America, in spite of the millions that would die, she instilled this belief into Cameron, and made him idolize his father even more. Lily was enraged when Courtney dared to try and tell Cameron about her superhero identity and implied Jordan wasn't the man Cameron thought he was. She threatened the teen and didn't want to leave the fight that ensued. She pushed Sofus aside to fight Wildcat, and was pleased with the heroines defeat. She urged Cameron to kill Hourman, but Sofus stopped him before he could.

While Lily was a deeply damaged individual with cruel and callous methods, her love for her son never wavered. She was devastated by his death and truly mourned his loss. Her anger with the JSA stemmed from her belief that what her son did was right, with the children taking away his life work and her son. However, Lily's loyalty and love for Sofus was not strong, as she frequently belittled, demeaned, and verbally abused the man. She called him stupid, a fool, and scoffed off his genuine attempts to make Cameron happy. When Sofus refused to kill the teenaged Dr. Mid-Nite, Lily gave him an ultimatum - kill the girl or be killed. She was prepared to murder her husband to accomplish Jordan's goal. Her own selfish, egotistical, and disillusioned view of the world led her to attack Wildcat and unintentionally kill herself when her powers broke the scaffold and a car fell, which crushed her to death.

Physical Appearance[]

Powers[]

  • Cryokinesis: Like the rest of her family, Lily has the power to control and manipulate ice. She generates icicles and blasts strong enough to kill people. She maintains perfect control over her abilities, never letting Cameron see her powers until he developed his own.
    • Ice Blasts:
      309 SC (160)
Lily can shoot ice blasts from her palms that are strong enough to manipulate objects and people. Her blasts broke a wall in the Mahkent home, pushed Yolanda several feet backwards, and restrained her against the wall. The ice exhibits itself in a steady stream with varying degrees of strength. Her aim is often off center, as she missed the nimbler Wildcat several times in close quarters before ultimately defeating her. Lily also missed Wildcat when she leapt through the air, and failed to realize that missing would break a scaffold holding a car. The car collapsed on Lily and killed her.
    • Ice Breath: The ability to emit cold or ice from through one's mouth. Lily became angry at Cindy and emitted her ice breath in retaliation to Cindy's threats.
    • Ice Shield: Lily created an ice shield to protect herself from a car falling on top of her. However, her powers weren’t strong enough to stop the car and it broke through the shield and crushed her.
