Chapter Ten: The Killer[1] also titled Frenemies - Chapter Ten: The Killer is the tenth episode of the third season of Stargirl, and the thirty-sixth episode overall. This episode aired on November 9, 2022 on The CW.
Synopsis[]
THE AFTERMATH — Courtney and the team regroup after a dramatic confrontation leaves battle lines clearly drawn. A terrifying discovery made by Mike and Jakeem forces Pat and Sylvester to go on high alert. Finally, Paula and Larry take matters into their own hands to make things right.
Plot[]
The Crock house is quiet, as Paula stands in the kitchen frosting her German chocolate cake, smiling at the creation. Crusher sits in the living room designing wrappers for Ripped City's new chocolate protein bars. He writes the new slogan, "Even superheroes need a snack!", smiling at the design. Artemis is in her room looking at brochures for Nebraska University. She smiles at the brochure and picks up a football, walking out of her room as she tosses it in the air. She leaves her JSA backpack in the corner of her room. Back in the kitchen, Paula finishes frosting the cake with a bright smile, while Crusher beams from the couch at his creations.
The Crocks head on their daily run, passing Richie Rock's Diner. They greet Maria and a supplier, who Crusher high-fives. The couple continues on as they pass a member of Crusher's gym. He playfully air boxes with the man, who laughs, and they jog on. They round the corner of Main Street, passing over a maintenance hole. They stop running to stand in front of the Mahkent residence. As they look up at the house, Crusher muses that in the old days, it wouldn't have mattered if the Mahkents were wearing dentures or being fitted for a pacemaker. If anyone attacks their family they would take them out. Paula agrees, but reminds him that Pat and his family are their people now. They don't use violence to solve their problems anymore. He can't just let Grandma and Grandpa Icicle walk away from this - they gotta do something. Paula assures him they will, she just doesn't know what yet. They exchange a pensive look than continue on their run.
Meanwhile, in the woods, Mike, Jakeem, and Thunderbolt try to find a way to escape. Jakeem's nonspecific wish for phone service results in a phone booth appearing. He sighs that he never learns. Thunderbolt laughs that Jakeem wished for phone service and he came through with flying colors. Mike sarcastically tells the imp he did a great job. Thunderbolt wonders if he heard a, "Thank You, Thunderbolt!", but he didn't hear that because that didn't get said. But, despite that, he tells Jakeem he's welcome. The boys climb into the phone booth as Mike tries to dial. He hears a dial tone then a prompt asking him for a dime. He asks Jakeem for a dime, but Jakeem asks why he would walk around with a dime. Mike rolls his eyes, telling him to just look. The boy pulls out the contents of his pockets, revealing a handful of old apple bubblegum. They leave the phone booth as Mike grumbles over Jakeem's insistence they help Cindy Burman, which backfired on them. Jakeem worries that thing got her. Mike thinks it probably did - she's probably in its belly, and they'll join her down there. They could be home right now if Jakeem had been more specific with the first wish. Thunderbolt muses that home is where the heart is, a very apropos statement. It actually came from one of his former masters, Gaius Plinius Secundus. He and his best friend went everywhere together, like him and Mike, even to to an active volcano, the great Mt. Vesuvius. Which again, very apropos, as it caused their demise. Mike is dumbfounded that they died, but Thunderbolt reminds him they died together. Mike grabs Jakeem's hand to speak into Thunderbolt like a microphone. They'll be no death for them today. Thunderbolt asks why there would be, unless of course, that giant, mutated, hungry, albino gorilla finds them, and then he'd have to say, "outlook not so good". He laughs but off in the distance is a distant growl followed by a thunderous roar. They groan over why that couldn't have just been thunder, then begin running.
At the Whitmore-Dugan House, Pat tries calling Mike's cellphone, though he doesn't pick up. He tells the family that he still isn't answering his phone. Courtney puts her phone away, since Jakeem isn't answering either. Yolanda asks where they could possibly be. Pat sighs that Mike told him he was going to spend the night at Jakeem's and that Jakeem told his mom that he was spending the night here. Yolanda wonders if they think the Mahkents did something to them. Pat, begins to worry if they found out that Mike killed Jordan, but Sylvester then cuts him off. Mike and Jakeem lied about where they were before everything with those Norwegian frosted freaks went down. So they boy were already off doing whatever they set out to do. Pat still has to be sure that the Mahkents are not involved and Barbara agrees. Courtney nervously says that Beth tracked the receiving signal from the spy cameras to the Mahkent house. They're the ones who've been watching them, so they have to be involved. Sylvester isn't convinced, as they've been set up before. She looks at him curiously. He tells her to think about it -- at the exact moment she and Cameron were trying to bury past demons, Beth suddenly cracks into info that points the rest of the team at the Mahkent house like a gun, making everything go boom. He's betting one of his red boots and one of Pat's puffer vests that the signal Beth found was a fabrication. Someone is trying to distract them. Yolanda questions that if the Mahkents haven't been watching the ones watching them, then who's left.
Across town at the hospital, Lily and Cameron sit near Sofus's slumbering body. Lily angrily tells Cameron this is not the way of their family, waiting, and giving them time to plan their attack again. Cameron tries to reason as they don't know for sure that's what they're doing. He starts to mention what Papa said, but she cuts him off and says to look at Sofus. Cameron knows that he might've died if it wasn't for Beth Chapel calling 911. Lily scoffs as they were the ones that did this to him, just like his father. He looks away and she turns to face him. He knows the truth now, about Courtney Whitmore and her friends - who they are and what they did. She's going to take his grandfather home, instructing Cameron to go find the Whitmore girl. She trusts that he knows what must be done, and after a moment, Cameron looks to her darkly, stating that he knows.
Cameron stands in front of the mural he painted of his father. He turns around and emotionally walks away.
Meanwhile, the Chapel Residence, Dr. Bridget Chapel examines Rick's facial wounds. He asks what his prognosis is and if he will ever be able to play the violin again. Beth replies that it's not funny, and that Mr. Mahkent almost died. Rick snaps back that he didn't, neither did he. Dr. Chapel tells him while that's true, his blood pressure and heart rate are elevated to unnatural levels. Beth insists it's that hourglass, as he's been wearing it for too long. He chuckles, standing up, as he feels better than ever, and with Cameron Mahkent and his grandparents out there, none of them can let their guard down right now. James tells Rick that from what Beth told them, it sounds like he just rushed in, even hit Courtney. Rick angrily and offensively yells back that it was an accident. Beth looks at her parents in surprise and he looks to Beth, insisting she knows that. She gestures for him to calm down as she takes a step closer. They do know that, but also knows he hasn't been acting like himself. They're all really worried about him him. Rick grabs the hourglass, insistings he's fine, really. Beth tells him to take off the hourglass, then. Take it off for ten minutes and see how he feels. Rick scoffs and approaches Beth, looking down at her. He warns her to don't ever tell him what to do. He leaves the house as she shouts after him, with James telling him to hold on. Rick ignores them as he leaves. The Chapel family stands together in worry.
Pat and Sylvester pull up to the Mahkent house in Sylvester's mustang. Sylvester parks the car and tells Pat that not bringing the staff is a mistake. Pat reminds him they aren't here to fight. Sylvester thinks they're here to die, then, earning a sigh from Pat. He apologizes as he knows Pat's worried about Mike, but he's worried about Pat. These people are evil. They're the worst of the bunch. They could kill them the second they step on the front porch Pat doesn't care, because if Mike's in there, he wants to know about it right now. If he's not, then they still got a chance to calm the waters before any more blood gets spilled. They need to try. They approach the house as Pat reminds him that, no matter what they say, or do, to follow his lead, and to check his temper like Rick should've done. Sylvester tells Pat that he's got it. They knock on the door and Sofus appears, confused by their presence. Pat asks if he feels alright, and Sofus tells them to come in. Once the men cross the threshold, Sofus looks around outside as if making sure no one else is around.
The trio convenes in the living room where the fight took place, the couches back in their usual spots. Sofus remarks that he offer them some tea, but he's in no shape to make it. Pat and Sylvester sit down and Pat immediately asks if Sofus has seen Mike. Sofus hasn't, but asks if they should have. Pat presses that after everything that's happened, he wants to know if they've done something to his son and his friend, Jakeem. If Sofus felt better, he'd be angry at the allegation that he would hurt a child. Sylvester scoffs that he just tried to freeze-dry a bunch of kids, calling him Grandpa Frostbite. Pat looks over at him and Sylvester apologizes quickly. Sofus then says yes, he was, but they were defending themselves, and calls him Starman. Pat questions where Sofus's wife is. He explains she went out to pick up some things for his recovery. Pat's glad he's doing okay, but Sofus sighs as this never should have happened. They brought their son to this country to escape what they faced back home. He tells Pat and Sylvester that they don't understand what their family has endured over the centuries. They've been hunted because of what they could do. Fathers, mothers, even children burnt alive like witches. Pat tells Sofus that they don't want to hurt him, offering to put an end to this feud. Sofus reminds Pat he killed their son. The why, and the how doesn't matter. That there's no coming back from that, not for his wife. He suggests Pat should take his family and friends far away from Blue Valley, or to come for them as others have before. Sylvester would love to take a shot at him. He reaches out his fist to Pat for a fist bump, but Pat merely looks over at him. Sofus suggests they go now, before his wife returns and kills both of them where they sit. He tells him to go, please. The men stand and leave the home as Sofus sits on the couch, looking pensive.
Back at the Whitmore-Dugan House, Barbara sits in the kitchen, talking to Mr. Bloomkiss. She asks if that if he sees Mike and Jakeem to just have them call her. He tells her not problem as he's got her. She thanks him and hangs up, though a knock at the door catches her attention. She opens up the door to find Lily on the porch. She pushes her way inside, her tone accusatory as she tells Barbara that her husband his friend came to their house today, so she came here. Barbara asks what she wants, stepping away from her. Lily's here to tell her that she and her family has hurt hers too many times now. Her son could have saved this country's future and he was so very fond of her. She stretches out her hand as her eyes freeze over. Barbara shields herself, anticipating a blow. An arrow shoots past Barbara and pierce the front door. Lily gasps in surprise as Paula walks forward, standing protectively in front of Barbara. She won't miss on purpose again. She gives Lily one second to leave. She glares at the duo before leaving. Paula turns to her friend, who needs to learn how to use the crossbow.
Back in the woods, Mike and Jakeem continue running from the creature, as Mike feverently tells him they gotta think of a wish. He comes up with a good one, telling Jakeem to say, "I wish that my friend, Mike Dugan, and I were sitting at a booth in Richie's, enjoying strawberry milkshakes and chocolate milkshakes, respectively at 212 Main Street." Mike can't remember if its North or South Main Street. Thunderbolt reminds them that they gotta be specific They hear twigs snapping and start running again, this time stepping on a trap that scoops them into the air in a net. Mike asks what happened, with Jakeem wondering if they got eaten. Mike complains that Jakeem is on top of him, when Cindy Burman emerges from behind the tree. She asks what the two idiots are doing here. The boys poke their heads through the net. Mike exclaims they found her, with Jakeem questioning if it's Cindy, smiling when he sees her. He greets her with a hello, and Thunderbolt warns them not to tell her they have all of her stuff. Cindy cuts them down with her shiv, making the boys scream until they thump on the ground. She smirks and sheathes her shiv.
Jakeem exclaims that she's still alive. She asks again what they're doing there. Mike admits they're looking for her, which confuses her. They wanted to see if she was okay, now that she's turning into a lizard. Jakeem quickly adds that lizards are, by far, the most beautiful and intriguing members of the reptile family, if she were to ask him. Mike tells Cindy they found a giant, big, white gorilla while they were looking for her. Jakeem isn't good at estimates, but he'd say it was 30 feet tall. Cindy knows, as that's what the trap was for. Mike remarks she'll need a bigger trap. Cindy sighs then points over her shoulder. Down there, they'll find a road, Etter Lane, that leads right back to town. Mike tells her to come with them, but she can't. She thinks that thing is one of her dad's crazy science experiments. He suggests it has to be what killed The Gambler. She agrees it probably is, which is how she'll clear her name and shove it into the smug faces of his sister's dumbass friends faces. Thunderbolt snips that it's an admirable goal. She tell them to do themselves a favor - go play some video games and leave this to her. Jakeem starts to explain what Thunderbolt said, but a distant boom catches their attention. They look back and when they look to Cindy again, she's gone. Thunderbolt gasps that she's just like Batman. Mike plainly states she is out of her mind. Thunderbolt suggests those milkshakes they were talking about before. He asks Jakeem if he wants to make that wish.
The outside of Richie Rock's Diner shines brightly with pink light and when it dims, Jakeem and Mike have been teleported into a booth. Maria and the customers look around, confused over what just happened. A chocolate and vanilla milkshake materialize in front of the boys. They celebrate their wish working, slurping the shake. They breathe a sigh of relief. Thunderbolt laughs as he asks if they know that he totally forgot about - the gorilla. Mike sits up as he calls for the check.
Paula and Barbara are in a field with Paula trying to teach Barbara how to use a crossbow. Paula tells Barbara to stabilize her stance, to which a confused Barbara asks what that means. She tells Barbara to move her legs, standing behind her to demonstrate. She shouldn't lean forward, keep her center of gravity over her base, keep her hands below the rail, and if they're anywhere near these cable's, she'll lose a finger. A nervous Barbara now tries following what Paula taught her,, but doubts herself as she's not a superhero. Paula chuckles and tells her that not all superheroes fly through the air - some fire arrows. Barbara insists this is not her, but Paula confidently replies that it is. Courtney is a fighter, which she gets from Barbara. She doesn't want to lose the only real friend outside of her family that she's ever had. They smile at one another. Paula tells her to try again, but this time, to picture that it's Mrs. Mahkent's face is the target. Barbara breathes out, focuses her stance, and pulls the trigger. The arrow whizzes out but the target remains unhit. Paula's face falls as she tries to stay positive, as they'll keep practicing. Barbara asks where the arrow went. Paula doesn't see it and looks down at the crossbow, questioning if she fired it. Barbara did and they look up at one another. Paula pats Barbara's back and assures her she has lots of chances - she's got some arrows in the car.
Behind the The American Dream, a nervous Courtney meets up with Cameron. He looks over at her from the bench and stands as she approaches. She asks how his grandfather is. He replies that he's fine. Courtney is so sorry - she never meant for any of this to happen. He asks why she did it. She explains Yolanda and Rick were just trying to protect her. They though his grandparents were part of it, but he cuts her off, as his grandparents are not evil. They're just angry, and so is he. She knows he is. He has every right to be. He insists she should have told him the truth. She wanted to, but she didn't know how. He coldly says she just needs to open her mouth, and say it. She knows but she knows how much his father meant to him, and she didn't want to change that. He questions her statement, and she steps closer, admitting that Jordan did bad things. He killed people to get what he wanted and was about to kill more, so, so many more. Cameron's learning that he wasn't a good guy all the time, but he was his dad - his. He asks if she had to kill him to stop him. If she had to take his dad away from him forever. Courtney insists they never set out to hurt him. He wants to know who did it, who killed his father. She carefully tells him that it was accident, she swears to him. If it wasn't accident, then someone needs to own up to it. He closes the gap between them and again asks who killed his did it. She tries to avoid the answer, as it doesn't matter who did it. It matters to him. He pleads with her twice for the answer, his voice shaking as he does. Courtney looks down for a moment then up at him. She lies that she did it, just as a tear falls from his eye. She apologizes and tries to stop him, but he holds out his hand. He's quiet for a moment before leaning closer. He doesn't want to ever see her again. She nods and he back away before leaving. She watches him go and then tearfully walks away too.
Paula and Crusher return to the Mahkent residence. Crusher asks if she's sure she wants to do this. Paula is, as that old woman won't listen to a word Barbara says. But they used to be on their side of the fence, on Jordan's. They might be more open-minded with them. Crusher knocks on the door, him and Paula taking breaths and clearing their throats. Lily opens the door, shocked to see her son's old allies standing there. The Crocks smile at her, and she invites them inside. As they enter the living room, Crusher remarks that he hopes they have insurance. An unfazed Lily stares at them, sitting next to Sofus. Paula is sure they know why they're there, but Lily doesn't, not exactly. Sofus knows they were friends of their son. Crusher asks if he and Paula can sit down, proceeding to do so when the elders don't protest. Crusher is gonna get right to the point. They're here on behalf of Pat, Barbara, and with the kids. Lily is offended and asks if they aligned themselves with that horrible girl and her family. Despite their difference, Paula thinks all of them in Blue Valley want the same thing. Lily calls her a stupid woman in Norwegian, making Paula's smiles fall. She asks they could presume to know what they want. Paula tells her they need to rest. No more revenge plots, no more violence. This surprises Lily, who questions if they want them forget everything. Not forget it, but learn from it. That's what Courtney Whitmore has been trying to get everyone to do, forgive one another. Lily questions if they want the Mahkents to forgive the people who murdered their son. She wickedly says never. Paula takes a breath and Crusher looks over at Paula, then back at the grandparents.
At The Pit Stop, Sylvester and Pat are working on S.T.R.I.P.E.. Pat will hit the sky to see if can find any clue up there. He's about to get into the robt when the door opens, with Mike and Jakeem running in. Mike calls out for his dad, who asks where they've been. Mike explains they were in the woods. Pat hurries down the ladder to hug him. He makes sure they're both all right, ensuring they are. They got a lot of folks worried, asking if they know that. They do, and Jakeem tells Pat and Sylvester they found a monster in the woods. The adults question the statement, with Sylvester asking if it was Grundy. Jakeem blurts out it was a huge mutant gorilla. The men exchange a worried look, as Mike continues that it was a white one. They recognize the key words of a white gorilla. Jakeem asks if they know what it is, and they do. It's one of the most dangerous things that the JSA ever faced.
Back at the Mahkent Residence, the Crocks tells the grandparents that everything that has been happening has nothing to do with them. Jordan wanted to build a new America, because he believed he could create a brighter, safer future for their children. They believed in him but if this continues, it will only bring more destruction to their families and community. Crusher knows that's not what Jordan wanted in the end, which Paula acknowledges. If they kill the JSA, then the JSA will them them, and a lot of other people get killed along the way. He asks them to believe him, as his wife and him have been doing this a long time. They know that's how this goes. Paula asks the grandparents how it will help Cameron, and what kind of future it will give him and his children. Crusher looks at the Mahkent family portrait. Jordan wanted the best for his kid, so they should do what's right. Give it up, like they did. He takes his Sportsmaster mask out of his duffel and sets it on the coffee table. Sofus looks to Lily, telling his love that even though it's hard, he can forgive them. He asks if she can too. Lily looks up at the portrait, full of emotion.
Courtney returns home after her meeting with Cameron, finding that Beth, Yolanda, Mike, Jakeem, Barbara, Pat, and Sylvester are gathered. Barbara asks if she's alright, and Courtney says that she's fine. Pat asks about Rick, but Beth hasn't heard back from him yet. Pat scoffs that he needs to get his head on straight, because the man that Mike and Jakeem found, he's worst threat they can imagine. Mike reminds Pat that the creature isn't a man. Sylvester says that he used to be. When the Justice Society first formed, there was a scientist, though the didn't know his real identity. He just went by "The Ultra-Humanite", but he went by a lot of other names. When they first met, he was just another criminal until he escaped the JSA by putting his brain into the body of an actress name Dolores Winters. Pat knows it sounds like a science-fiction horror movie, but it's exactly what happened. Barbara is stunned over him putting his brain into Dolores Winters, the famous actress. Jakeem asks how could he do that, with Yolanda suggesting magic. Pat reveals it was surgery, with a little help from Dragon King. Sylvester doesn't even know if the scientist body they first met him in was his original one. Anyway, he assumed Dolores Winters' identity and fooled everyone. Pat adds that Dolores went on to win an Oscar, which Beth knows is for "Remembering to Forget", as it's one of her mom's favorites. Sylvester reveals that the Ultra-Humanite had been in Dolores' skull for over a year by then. Jakeem realizes that he won the award, with Pat confirming. Sylvester adds that when the JSA found out the truth about Winters, the Ultra-Humanite sought out a body strong enough to destroy the JSA. So he and Dragon King stitched that mutated ape together and put his brain in it. Sylvester thinks that has to be the one who sucker-punched him back at The Gambler's trailer. that Humanite had been in Dolores's skull for a year by that time. Jakeem says then he technically won the award. Pat tells Jakeem exactly. Mike thinks that's probably who killed The Gambler, too. Sylvester confirms that would be his M.O., with Barbara wonder what he wants. Aside from revenge against the JSA, Sylvester admits it's anyone's guess.
Paula and Crusher leave the Mahkent residence. Crusher asks Paula what she thinks. She thinks they're considering it, and he hopes so. Inside, Lily looks at the portrait of Christine, Jordan, and Cameron. She begins to cry as she touches the frame, slowly backing away. Sofus comes in to find her crying. She turns to him, admitting in Norwegian that she misses her son so much. Sofus embraces his broken wife, who openly sobs in his arms.
Courtney suggests the Ultra-Humanite is the next Eclipso. Pat asks what she means by that. He's the next great evil that has to be stopped by all of them. That's what she was talking about when she said they had to come together - the Crocks, Cindy, and hesitantly, now the Mahkents. If this villain is as powerful as they say, it'll take everyone to stop him, including the Mahkents. Yolanda knows Courtney wants to help Cameron, but Courtney cuts her off. This isn't just about helping Cameron, it's about all of them. Good and bad have come together before, and they can do it again, and get another new start. Sylvester thinks she might be right. Pat insists it's gonna take each and everyone of them, though, working together. One-by-one, the teams agree on the decision - first the Young All-Stars and then the JSA.
In the woods around Blue Valley, the Ultra-Humanite growls and then roars as the trees shake.
The Crocks walk home from the Mahkents house, happily interlocking arms. Crusher answers a facetime call from Artemis, while excitedly tells her parents that she got in. Crusher happily exclaims as Paula screams happily. Artemis continues that Mr. Morrison was at tryouts, and she's going to Nebraska University. The Crocks scream in joy, and celebrate the moment. Crusher creams out that their kid is the first female quarterback in college football history. Paula tells her that they knew she could do it. Crusher tells Artemis that he and Paula are on their way home and that they will see her soon, and that they are going to celebrate tonight. He kisses the phone. She tells her daughter that they love her so much, and Artemis returns the sentiment. They hang up the phone and the Crocks once again scream in joy. Crusher picks Paula up and hugs her tightly - they knew Artemis could do it. He happily sighs that everything's coming up Crock today. Paula, overjoyed, says that it is fantastic, it really is.
Their happy moment is interrupted when fliers from Ripped City begin blowing towards their way. Crusher picks one up and he and Paula scoff. He asks what the hell this is. They follow a trail around the corner to an open sewer grate, the same one they passed over that morning on the way to the Mahkents. Fliers are spread around the grate opening. They crouch down by the opening as Paula looks to her husband. Someone wants their attention. Crusher nods and if they're looking for trouble, they're gonna be sorry they got it.
The Crocks climb down into the sewer, finding a trail of Ripped City fliers leading down the hall. They follow and see a room with flickering lights. They exchange a look and investigate. When they enter, they find a room full of television monitors - the voyeurs lair. They wonder what it could be, with Crusher wondering what the hell is going on. He turns around and before he can make a move, a hooded figure imaples him. He groans and ice spreads across his torso. He falls to the ground. Paula shouts out no, rushing to the figure, who grabs her by the throat, choking her. Crusher watches the scene as his body slowly covers in ice. The figure raises Paula a few feet in the air. They pull their mask off, revealing themself to be Jordan Mahkent. Jordan takes a large breath of air as Paula stares in shock. He begins freezing her body, gently lowering her onto the ground next to Crusher. With their final dying breaths, Crusher holds out his hand and Paula takes it. He whispers slowly that he loves her. She loves him too, a tear falling from her eye as the ice encases them completely. Jordan stands over them and holds out his hand, giving a final gesture that shatters their bodies. He looks down at their remains and leaves the room.

Notes and Trivia[]
- This is the second episode to reveal that a character previously thought to have died is actually alive. The first was Sylvester Pemberton in "Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Part Two".
- Ironically, the aforementioned episode features the death of Icicle, while Chapter Ten: The Killer reveals he's alive.
- This is the second time that a "Special Guest Star" wasn't credited in the opening sequence to hide their surprise return. The first was Joel McHale in "Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Part Two" when Sylvester Pemberton returned.
- The popular DC Comics heroes Batman and Green Arrow were referenced in this episode.
- Mike and Jakeem compare Cindy's vanishing from the woods to being similar to how Batman vanishes.
- Paula indirectly mentions the Green Arrow when she tells Barbara that not all superheroes fly through the air - some fire arrows. Arrows are the primary choice of weapon for the Green Arrow.
- Barbara talks to a Mr. Bloomkiss on the phone when she's looking for Jakeem and Mike. While Mr. Bloomkiss doesn't exist in the comics, a character named Mister Bloom does. He's a power broker in Gotham and a villain of Batman.
- Chapter Ten: The Killer shows Paula's calendar, which reveals the date as Wednesday, October 5th.
- This is most likely a prop error, since the date only occurs in 2022, while the series is still set in the Fall of 2021.
